The Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service responded to a chimney fire in Whitwell earlier this evening (Monday).
A single appliance from Shanklin Fire Station was called to Bannock Road shortly before 21:50 as it was feared the chimney of a residential property was alight.
Crews quickly worked to extinguish the fire and brought the situation under control with the retained appliance standing down at around 22:10.
Most chimney fires are preventable. Regular inspection and cleaning of chimney flues will help prevent fires within your chimney. Disastrous Dave burning the minutes of Council meetings?
We actually do have our chimney swept , and we are not irresponsible, these things happen, so there was no need to be rude and inconsiderate, especially considering you don’t know the details.
I own the house in question and it is regularly swept every two months, even the fireman said these things just happen sometimes.
There is no need to be rude as you don’t know any of the details.
Yes, yes. I can see perfectly well, thank you for checking in on that though! I really appreciate it 🙂 I actually went to the opticians recently and they said my eyes were doing really well and I did not need glasses
However it says “most” cases are preventable, not “all” cases, so would you like me to book you a spec savers appointment? I’d be happy to help 🙂 please do let me know
