UPDATED: The Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service are attempting to rescue a cow stuck in a river at Yarbridge this afternoon (Sunday).
Appliances from Ryde, Newport and Shanklin are on scene alongside a 4×4 Land Rover from Ryde and the animal rescue unit from Newport.
The alarm was raised by a member of the public at just before 14:30.
The cow has swum down stream – potentially causing a headache for the rescuers.
UPDATE @ 15:26 – Firefighters have now successfully freed the animal using a strop system.
Plan A of trying to coax the cow to an easier access point did not prove fruitful.
Thankfully, the cow appears uninjured and has happily run into nearby fields – albeit with the strop still attached!
The Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service are now standing down from the incident.
