2 fire appliances and a duty officer are in attendance at an address on West Street in Ryde this evening (Thursday).
Both retained and wholetime crews, donned in breathing apparatus, were mobilised to reports of a property fire at around 18:45.
There appears to be no signs of fire but investigations are taking place. It is understood electrics are at play.
The road remains open as normal.
UPDATE – The Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service have stood down from the incident.
It has been confirmed that smoke issuing from a fuse box sparked tonight’s alert.
Fire safety advice has been provided to the homeowner.
