UPDATED: The Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service is attending a car fire in Northwood near Cowes this evening (Wednesday).
1 appliance from Newport is on scene near the county showground on the main road between Newport and Cowes. The alarm was raised just before 17:00.
Firefighters have donned breathing apparatus to tackle the fire.
Police are reported to be en-route to the scene to assist with traffic control.
Southern Vectis are warning of possible delays to their Route 1 service.
UPDATE @ 17:49 – The fire within the Rover has now been extinguished by the Newport crew.
Traffic is reported to be heavy in the area this rush hour.
