The Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service have been called to Trucast in Ryde tonight (Monday).
2 appliances – 1 from Ryde and 1 from Sandown – are currently in attendance at the industrial factory off Marlborough Road. A duty officer is also on scene.
It is thought investigations are being carried out surrounding the roof space of one of the buildings on site. No smoke can be seen and the business appears to be operating as normal.
Firefighters arrived on scene shortly before 20:30.
UPDATE TUESDAY – It has been confirmed that a wax oven fire broke out just before 20:20 last night, but it was out upon arrival of firefighters.
No firefighting action was required, but a thorough inspection was carried out. Crews then left the scene at 22:00.
I’ve worked for Trucast in the past for more than ten years and I have to say, I’ve never heard of a wax oven.
The wax is melted in vats above the wax press that is part of that equipment, it is not melted in ovens, the wax is injected into a mould that creates the impression of the mould then its coated with a shell before it arrives into the casting process.
The shells go in the oven (furnace) and the wax is burnt out of the shells.
