UPDATED: FIRE CREWS CALLED TO SHED FIRE AT WHITELEY BANK

Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service (IWFRS) Logo with textThe Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service has been called to a shed fire at Whiteley Bank near Wroxall this morning (Thursday). 

Firefighters from Shanklin, Ventnor and Newport were mobilised to a property near the mini-roundabout at around 07:55. A fire duty officer is also in attendance.

Southern Vectis is advising that due to emergency services restricting the flow of traffic, delays are likely to Route 2 buses.

The road remains open under ‘give and take’.

 

UPDATE @ 08:50 – Firefighters, donned in breathing apparatus, have successfully used hose reel jets to tackle the fire at the rear of a residential property.

A conservatory on an adjoining property has suffered fire damage as a result of the fire spreading from the shed. The boundary fence between the 2 properties has also been charred.

Engineers from Scottish & Southern Electricity Networks are now in attendance.

Fire crews are now making up in preparation to stand down from the incident.
