UPDATED: The Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service are tackling a small fire at W.A. Foods wholesalers in Shanklin this afternoon (Tuesday).
Appliances from Shanklin, Ventnor and Ryde are on scene at Ponoma Road and the Incident Command Unit from Newport has also mobilised, alongside an aerial ladder platform.
Crews wearing breathing apparatus have entered the main warehouse where a food smoker is said to be alight.
The alarm was raised at 14:30
UPDATE @ 15:11 – The incident has been brought under control and Positive Pressure Ventilation (PPV) is now being used to rid the building of smoke.
Shanklin and Ventnor appliances remain on scene with all other resources stood down.
Thankfully, none has been injured in the incident.
UPDATE – It has been confirmed that a blocked water drain on a food smoker is to blame for the alert.
Crews have now stood down from the incident.
