Firefighters from Sandown, Ryde and Newport have rushed to a camping and caravanning site in Adgestone this evening (Thursday).
Hampshire & Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service has 2 appliances and a rescue tender currently on scene.
Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus are rummaging through a storage shed near to a swimming pool – although it remains unclear at this stage what exactly has prompted the emergency response.
The Isle of Wight Ambulance Service has also deployed to the incident with an operational commander and a paramedic crew present.
Emergency services were seen responding to the area from The Fairway in Sandown at just before 20:30.
UPDATE – It has been confirmed the emergency response was due to the smell of chlorine in a plant room.
Firefighters used a thermal imaging camera to investigate but were happy there was no sign of leaking chemicals.
