HM Coastguard have been called to reports of a person in the water at Bembridge Harbour this afternoon (Sunday) as a result of a paddle boarder falling into the icy waters.
Emergency services were alerted to a male entering the water off Embankment Road at around 15:00.
Thankfully, the male casualty has been able to exit the harbour prior to the arrival of Coastguard Rescue Officers. He is being cared for at a local houseboat, but is said to be very cold.
Bembridge Coastguard Rescue Team are on scene and officers are assessing the casualty’s condition.
UPDATE @ 16:40 – The Male has been handed over into the care of the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service.
It has been confirmed that Bembridge RNLI’s Inshore Lifeboat was tasked to the incident, but was swiftly stood down when it was confirmed that the individual was out of the water.
