The Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service have responded to reports of a possible fire at a youth and community centre in Ryde this afternoon (Tuesday), but the incident has been swiftly confirmed as a false alarm.
3 fire appliances from Ryde and Newport, the aerial ladder platform from Ryde and the Incident Command Unit from Newport were all mobilised to Ryde Youth and Community Centre in the upper High Street at just before 13:00.
The first firefighters on scene have conducted a visual inspection of the premises and, with the help of a thermal imaging camera, have been able to confirm that no fire is present.
All resources are now standing down from the incident and returning to their home stations.
Earlier on today, 2 appliances from Ryde and Shanklin were mobilised to a suspected property fire at Fort Mews, Sandown.
