A tree has come down in high winds and is blocking the main road connecting Newport and Cowes this morning (Saturday).
The small tree has come down across the carriageway at Horsebridge Hill, close to the pedestrian crossing.
Traffic is backed up in both directions with motorists having to divert locally. Southern Vectis Route 1 buses are also affected.
Debris is expected to be cleared fairly quickly with members of the public working to clear the obstruction.
UPDATE @ 09:50 – Thanks to the efforts of the public, the tree has now been cleared from the carriageway.
The road is now passable in both directions.
