Emergency services are attending an incident on Eleanors Grove near Fishbourne this afternoon (Wednesday).
Several police units are in attendance on the busy stretch of road connecting Fishbourne and Binstead, where a motorcycle has been involved in a collision.
Paramedics from the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service are also on scene alongside 1 fire appliance from Ryde. Fire crews have been called due to a oil spill.
The incident occurred shortly after 15:10 in full view of a Police speed camera van parked in the lay-by.
UPDATE @ 15:56 – Island Echo understands that the male rider of the motorcycle – a yellow Honda VTR – has sustained minor injuries in the incident and has been treated by paramedics.
It’s alleged that the biker braked heavily upon seeing the police speed camera van, causing him to lose control. Skid marks and oil can be seen along the carriageway, with impact marks noticeable on the kerb.
well if he stuck to the speed limit there would be no need to brake heavy, they allow margin of error, so not like doing 31 in a 30 zone would cause any issue requiring heavy braking.
My thought precisely.
Notice your marking me down although i am agreeing with Michael as my reply to Michael clearly shows.
herd instinct..sheep follow sheep, shepards just laugh
‘shepherds’, not ‘shepards’.
How do you know what speed he was doing????
He’ll be gutted if it turned out it was an ANPR van…
Eleanors Grove is hardly an accident black spot, the reason speed cameras are deployed, we are told. If I didn’t know any better, I’d say it was a money making exercise!
They sll so park down Yaverland. Iv bever seen or heard of sny accident on that road
I can recall two fatal collisions on the stretch between Yaverland and the old Jolly Sailor, both attributable to excess speed.. one of those was a young motorcyclist..
Regardless, the speed some drivers travel along there has potential for another serious collision so I would suggest that people drive within the limit to avoid disaster or prosecution.
Sorry about typo fat fingers
I thought they were there to welcome the visitors
I’m glad the rider is ok, however, for him to have to brake so hard in a thirty zone proved he was way over the speed limit.
Unfortunately there are far too many drivers that don’t give a dam when it comes to speed limits, in the end, there are consequences…
Bet he was flying. That’s why he had to brake so hard. Let’s hope it’s a lesson learnt??!!
It’ll be a lesson learned if they ever drive into any of my loved ones, let’s hope the medics get there first.
Well if he had a brain he would know that he doesn’t have a front number plate so would be hard to trace him down
Those vehicles photo back and front, you are obviously a little ignorant when it comes to police speed vans…
What do you think all that gear is for on top of the roof of the van???….or do you think its Sky Comedy channel…
but could also be someone with a lasser infront of the van for example, and couple of boys in blue around a corner laying in wait for the dirty number plate drivers, or motor bike who decides to flout the law.
Please see my comment on the new motorcycle race upcoming……. shouldn’t of been speeding then the rider wouldn’t need to slow down so quickly and lose control. I hope the police prosecute this person heavily.
Hopefully they might let him off if he supplies the pies for a week lol
Love seeing the negative comments. Classic projection
Much armchairing abounds, im a magnet for early morning rabbits badgers foxes, ran over a badger with a mate on the back of my PE175, his legs dangling, post pub, mid eightys, I stopped we both ran back to see if it was ok and it growled at us and wandered off, good bikes them PE’s, able to clear an angry badger with ease..
Weirdos!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
And the bike races are coming to the Island in October
Maybe he was practising
What a nob. 😀 Needs to go back to school if he can’t do an emergency stop from any speed. Never came of my bike braking heavy when someone pulls out in front of you, sometimes in a 60 zone! Had to do it on the motorway once when a lorry started to shed it’s load, braking heavy and missing chairs coming at you!
@Matt. These cameras also catch uninsured / tax’d cars. Your comments is the kind I here in the pub from people who think they can do what they like on the road and moan when they get done.
But the all important question……. did he slow down enough to not get a ticket?
following a line of cars into wootton a few years back, i was riding on the white line, damp conditions, december, when the lead car just braked so hard all the others(x4) locked up nearly colliding, i had to overtake whilst rolling around a blind left hander with traffic oncoming, i accelerated clearing the lead braking car and avoided a nasty collision..it was caused by a police speed camera van hidden on a blind bend, i was summoned for 50mph in a 30 zone, on looking at the evidence i got a nothing fine, nothing code on insurance, did not affect nxt policy..police need to stop trying to catch people out for cash..
Once again my post has disappeared although nothing controversial about it. This time I won’t bother posting again as it’s not worth it anymore . Been fun at first but the editing on mine and many others is becoming annoying. If that was your intention it’s worked.
Justice !! Is still Lockdown, but does not mean Speed Limits are stopped…
by where the oil is looks like he was almost on top of the van before he decided to slow down should look further ahead
If the scamera van werent there he wouldnt of crashed .
