Emergency services are attending a road traffic collision on the outskirts of Newport tonight (Sunday) in which a car has rolled onto its side, narrowly missing a tree.
The single vehicle crash has occurred on Staplers Road on a series of bends between the Bluebell Meadows roundabout and the junction with Blacklands Lane.
A Peugeot 106 has left the road and come to rest on its side, sustaining significant damage. The driver and any other occupants are said to be lucky to be alive having avoided a head-on impact with a large tree.
The Isle of Wight Ambulance Service are on scene and are checking over the occupants of the vehicle. Amazingly, no one is thought to be seriously injured.
Police have closed the road in both directions whilst the injured parties are attended to and the vehicle is recovered.
