A man is being checked over by paramedics as a result of a car crashing into the rear of a van on a busy road in Shanklin this morning (Wednesday).
Emergency services are currently on scene at Green Lane, where a Vauxhall Astra has collided with a secondary vehicle, which has since left the scene.
There has been no indication that the van driver has done anything wrong having exchanged details with the other vehicle’s driver before leaving. It’s said the van driver was in a hurry.
The crash, which occurred at just before 10:40, has taken place close to Witbank Gardens.
Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service are in attendance in the interests of seen safety with 1 appliance from nearby Shanklin Fire Station on scene.
Paramedics from the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service – as well as an operational commander – are tending to a male, who is to be conveyed to St Mary’s Hospital.
Southern Vectis Route 2 buses will follow the Route 3 in both directions until further notice.
Green Lane remains open in both directions, albeit with delays. Large vehicles should divert.
UPDATE @ 12:15 – The incident has now been cleared and buses have returned to their normal route.
