HM Coastguard and the Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service are involved in a multi agency operation to rescue a dog that has gone over the cliff at Devil’s Chimney near Ventnor this afternoon (Wednesday).
Firefighters from Ryde, Shanklin and Newport are on scene alongside Coastguard Rescue Teams from Bembridge and Ventnor.
A search of the area is being conducted to locate the animal.
Coastguard Rescue Officers are establishing a point in which to safely lower a team member over the cliff.
UPDATE @ 16:15 – Dylan the dog – a working Cocker Spaniel – has been rescued by emergency teams this afternoon.
