Crowds of up to 2000 people are expected to take part in the annual Bembridge Fort Walk today (Monday), a Summer tradition that is believed to be one of the biggest unorganised gatherings on the Island.
Each year crowds of people walk from both Bembridge and St Helens at low tide to the fort, around it and back again, despite there being no organiser and no set time or date for the event.
Some walkers took advantage of the early morning low tide on Saturday, whilst larger crowds gathered yesterday evening. The large majority of people are expected to take part in the walk this evening at around 19:00, gathering at Bembridge’s Toll Gate car park.
Those taking part are warned that it is likely you will need to wade through some water and that you walk at your own risk.
