A collision involving 2 cars and a bus has blocked the main road between St Helens and Bembridge this evening (Wednesday). Police are on scene at the bottom of Kings Road – near The Pilot Boat Inn – where a BMW, a Nissan Micra and a Southern Vectis double-decker bus have all been involved in a crash. Island Echo understands the Micra was traveling out of the village of Bembridge and towards St Helens when it came up behind the slower moving Route 8 bus, crashing into the rear right hand side – and subsequently a BMW travelling in the opposite direction. Emergency services were called the scene around 19:05. Paramedics are not yet on scene but officers from Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary are providing immediate casualty care. All traffic is being turned around and diverted via Brading and Yarbridge. UPDATE – A 28-year-old man from Bembridge has been arrested on suspicion of drink driving, possession of an imitation firearm and possession of an offensive weapon.
