Emergency services are attending a crash on Carpenters Road between Brading and St Helens tonight (Friday).

2 fire appliances from Ryde are on scene near to Oasis, where it is understood 1 female is feared trapped inside a VW Polo.

Police are already on scene and are working with colleagues from the fire service and the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service to assist those involved.

The crash occurred at around 22:00.

The road is closed in both directions with all motorists diverting via Nettlestone or Bembridge.

UPDATE @ 22:30 – 1 female passenger is being helped from the vehicle by firefighters following what is being described as a head-on crash between a car and a pick-up.

A full extrication has not been required.

1 fire appliance from Ryde has now stood down from the incident but the first crew in attendance remain on scene tending to the casualty.

No one is thought to have sustained any life-threatening injuries.

UPDATE @ 22:50 – The Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service have now stood down from the incident.

All injured parties are in the care of paramedics.

Recovery of the vehicles has been arranged by Police and the road is expected to re-open once this has been completed.
