Reports of a coffee roaster alight at an industrial unit in Rookley has prompted a response from firefighters this morning (Tuesday).
3 appliances from Newport, Sandown and Shanklin – as well as an aerial ladder platform from Newport – were mobilised to Betapak on Pritchetts Way at just gone 10:45.
Thankfully, the incident has been quickly resolved resulting in all resources being stood down, save for 1 appliance from Newport.
A spokesperson for BetaPak has said:
“We can confirm that the fire service was called as a precautionary measure, in line with our safety protocols, after a minor incident was identified. They attended the scene, assessed the situation, and provided support to ensure safety.
“Our safety systems and processes exceed the required legislation and guidelines, supported by our accredited inspections and external partner checks on our Roastery. Following this small incident, we conducted an immediate review and will implement additional measures to enhance even more.
“We extend our sincere thanks to the fire service for their prompt response and support, and to our Master Roaster, Mike, who acted swiftly to ensure staff safety.
“Operations have now resumed”.
