
Coastguard Rescue 175 helicopter and the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance have been scrambled alongside local Coastguard officers and Yarmouth RNLI lifeboat to an injured individual at Compton this evening (Wednesday).
The red and white helicopter from Lee-on-Solent is currently on scene off Military Road alongside Coastguard Rescue Officers.
The Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance have landed at the scene in the past few minutes, indicating the seriousness of the incident.
Yarmouth RNLI’s All-Weather Lifeboat is standing by just off the coast.
UPDATE @ 18:15 – The casualty has been airlifted from the beach to the cliff top by the Coastguard helicopter.
The individual is now in the care of the Air Ambulance team, but is said to be in a serious condition.
The Needles and Ventnor Coastguard Rescue Teams are on scene alongside the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service and a Co-Responder.
UPDATE @ 19:50 – Emergency crews have now stood down from the incident.
The casualty is said to have sustained extremely serious injuries.
