Coastguard officers from Ventnor have been called to invesitgate the discovery of a dolphin on a beach near Chale.
A member of the public found the deceased mammal earlier morning (Thursday), prompting a response from Ventnor Coastguard Rescue Team.
The dolphin has been located and Coastguard officers are now working on a plan of action to reach it given the remote location. They must taken measurements and collect other information.
It is expected that the local authority will arrange for the recovery of the dolphin in due course. Members of the public should not approach.
