UPDATED: Coastguard officers are conducting a search of the shoreline at Sandown this morning (Saturday) following the discovery of a pile of clothes.
Bembridge coastguard rescue team have been tasked to search the area over fears someone could be in difficulty.
The alarm was raised around 10:00.
UPDATE @ 10:58 – Police have joined HM Coastguard in Sandown, where a search is taking place between Sandown Lifeboat and the War Memorial.
Police have recovered the clothes which were found close to Sandown Pier.
Enquiries continue.
UPDATE @ 11:50 – The individual at the centre of this morning’s search has been found safe and well at a different location.
Search teams have now stood down.
