UPDATED: Paramedics are attending to a motorist who has smashed into a skip in Sandown this afternoon (Sunday).
1 vehicle has been involved in the High Street incident outside the Co-Op store, which has resulted in the through road being closed.
The force of the impact has swung the skip around and debris has been left across the carriageway. The skip is in situ for refurbishment works.
Island Echo understands that the female driver was potentially dazzled by the strong, low sun.
UPDATE @ 16:52 – Firefighters from Sandown have been mobilised to the incident with the single crew carrying out scene safety.
Police are also now in attendance.
UPDATE @ 18:10 – The road has now been cleared of the blockage meaning buses and traffic can now use Sandown High Street as normal.
