CAR ROLLS ONTO SIDE IN EARLY HOURS CRASH IN BEMBRIDGE

UPDATED: 3 fire appliances, Police and paramedics are attending a road traffic collision on Hillway Road in Bembridge this morning (Saturday), in which a car has rolled onto its side.

Emergency services were alerted to the collision – located half way between Whitecliff Bay Holiday Park and Kingswood – at just gone 02:30.

Fire appliances from Bembridge, Ryde and Sandown are in attendance alongside Police and the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service.

The road is blocked in both directions.

UPDATE @ 03:20 – The male driver of the small white hatchback has been helped from the vehicle by Bembridge firefighters, who have removed the windscreen to gain access.

Stabilising tools have been used to ensure the vehicle doesn’t move.

The casualty is not thought to be seriously injured and is currently being checked over by paramedics.

Recovery of the car has been arranged by Police and the road is expected to re-open well in advance of first light.

Fire crews from Ryde and Sandown are now standing down and returning to station.
