UPDATED: Emergency services are en-route to a road traffic collision on Middle Road near Freshwater this afternoon (Wednesday).
A blue car has come to a stop on its side on the main Newport to Freshwater road near to Tapnell Farm.
2 fire crews from Newport and Freshwater have been mobilised to the scene alongside Police and the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service.
The alert came in shortly before 13:20.
UPDATE @ 13:37 – Emergency services have now arrived on scene near Wilmingham Lane and have stabilised the vehicle – a Suzuki.
It is thought at least 1 person is trapped in the car, which has left the carriageway.
The road has been closed in both directions from the entrance to Tapnell Farm to Wilmingham Lane. Motorists should avoid the area.
UPDATE @ 14:04 – It has been confirmed that 3 people have been injured in the single vehicle incident, but none are thought to have sustained life-threatening injuries.
The Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service have now stood down from the incident.
The road is expected to re-open once recovery of the Suzuki has been completed by Stag Lane Motors.
UPDATE @ 15:15 – The road has now re-opened.
The 3 injured parties have not required any hospital treatment.
