UPDATED: Firefighters are tackling a car fire in Arreton this morning (Wednesday).
1 fire appliance from Newport is currently in attendance at the scene outside Hasley Manor on the main Newport to Sandown road.
The vehicle, thought to be a Renault Scenic, is said to be well alight. The fire broke out around 07:30.
Fire crews wearing breathing apparatus are working to extinguish the flames.
The road remains open, however traffic is slow in the area.
UPDATE @ 08:10 – The fire has now been brought under control.
Firefighters are damping down the vehicle and are expected to stand down from the incident shortly.
UPDATE @ 09:00 – The Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service has now left the scene.
Recovery of the vehicle has been arranged.
