UPDATED: A car ploughed into a wall on Park Road in Cowes earlier this morning (Sunday).
Local residents experienced a rude awakening when they heard the collision take place shortly before 04:30.
Island Echo understands the blue car collided with another vehicle before coming to rest against the stone wall, sustaining significant front-end damage.
Park Road was blocked for a time while emergency services attended the scene.
It is unknown at this stage if anyone was injured as a result of the crash.
UPDATE @ 13:38 – Hampshire Constabulary have confirmed that a 32-year-old man from Cowes was arrested on suspicion of drink driving.
He has been released without charge, but remains under investigation.
