Police are attending a collision between a bus and a car in the centre of Ryde this morning (Tuesday).
The incident has occurred on Dover Street at the crossroads junction with Melville Street.
A Citroen C3 – which according to witnesses is said to have pulled out from Melville Street on the left – has sustained heavy front end damage as a result of the contact with a Southern Vectis double decker bus serving Route 3.
No one is thought to have been injured in the smash but the drivers of the vehicles have been left shaken.
The incident occurred at 11:20.
Traffic is congested in the area and a partial blockage of the carriageway is expected to cause disruption to some Southern Vectis’ services.
UPDATE @ 13:30 – The driver of the bus has been checked over by paramedics from the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service for minor injuries.

Island Echo staff can’t even spell centre. A pretty basic word to spell…….
‘Centre’ is the wrong word anyway – it should be ‘central’ Ryde.
More bad driving on the I o w
This is one of several rtcs at this junction, especially since they changed the give way priorities . My daughter had her car written off in exactly the same spot with identical damage to the car pictured. People have a tendency to speed along Dover Street and when someone pulls out of Melville Street they’ve no chance.
