Fire crews have responded to a crash involving a double decker bus and a car near Freshwater this afternoon (Sunday).
2 appliances from Newport and Freshwater were mobilised to Moons Hill between Freshwater and Totland at just before 16:30 when a Southern Vectis bus collided with a Honda Jazz.
Thankfully, 4 people inside the Jazz were able to free themselves prior to the arrival of firefighters.
1 appliance from Freshwater remains on scene alongside Police.
No one has been injured in either vehicle. Paramedics gave not been required.
The road is currently blocked in both directions.

Buses need to go through the narrow roads on the island to get to all the locations they need to get too but I don’t understand why they stopped the minibuses called the Medina nippers surely there more cheeper to run ad half the buses on this island are very rarely full and on a environmental reasons its better as well..
When will there be a reasoned debate on the size of the buses used by Southern Vectis on some routes. It is not a which hunt against buses or their drivers but is a matter for discussion between the councils (IW & local), police and Southern Vectis.
