Emergency services are attending a road traffic collision on the outskirts of Wootton this evening (Sunday), which has seen one vehicle leave the road and come to a stop deep in a hedge.

Police, fire and ambulance crews are all on scene at Briddlesford Road, close to the junction with Combley Road, having been alerted to the incident at just before 17:30.

It was initially feared the occupants of the Nissan Juke were trapped inside the vehicle resulting in the mobilisation of firefighters from Newport and Ryde. However, it has been confirmed that no persons are trapped meaning firefighters have been involved in carrying out scene safety.

Briddlesford Road is closed in both directions whilst the incident is dealt with.

No one is thought to be seriously injured, despite the car having rolled.

Motorists should divert locally.

UPDATE – The road has now re-opened.
