The Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service have been called to reports of an ‘explosion’ at a home in Binstead near Ryde this afternoon (Tuesday).
2 appliances have been mobilised to the scene on Broadway Crescent after the occupier alerted 999 operators to the situation shortly after 13:00.
A cordon has been erected around the property, but fire crews say that they have not yet found any evidence of an explosion taking place. They have, however, found evidence of a possible fire surrounding the gas boiler.
Crews have entered the semi-detached property wearing breathing apparatus.
No one has been injured and pets inside the property have been evacuated.
UPDATE @ 13:50 – 1 appliance and a duty officer are now standing down from the incident, as it draws to a close.
UPDATE 14:40 – The fire service has now stood down from the incident having isolated the mains.
