The body of a young woman has been discovered in the search for missing 22-year-old Rosie Johnson, Police have confirmed.
Miss Johnson, from Glasgow, went missing from PGL Little Canada in Wootton on Sunday night prompting a major search to be launched on Tuesday morning.
Dozens of Police officers have been joined by HM Coastguard, WightSAR, Ryde Inshore Rescue and the National Police Air Service helicopter over the past few days in a bid to locate Rosie safe and well. Extensive searches have taken place between Ryde and Wootton and inland towards Firestone Copse.
Unfortunately, it has been confirmed by Hampshire Constabulary that the body of a woman – believed to be that of Rosie Johnson – has now been located in woodland between Wootton and Havenstreet off Bridleway N17.
Police responded to the area at around 15:20 this afternoon following the discovery of a body by members of the public.
Next of kin have been informed, although formal identification is yet to take place.
The death is not being treated as suspicious and a file is being prepared for the coroner.

Seems most odd to me that her body has only just been discovered if there is no suspicious reasons for her death? If she sadly passed away on a footpath, surely someone would have discovered her much sooner?
Such a shame that a seemingly decent person so young died alone like this. Perhaps a suicide but that is even more of a tragedy IF so.

.. if you are scared, and have massive reasons, you should perhaps consider telling someone in authority, even if confidentially . So sad for this young lady to have been so alone and so far from home.

On this very sad news. I feel there will be many questions asked on what has been in the view of many a poorly handled situation. I am so deeply saddened for her family and friends and only hope the inquiry from here on is handled better. It is a very sad day for her family if it is confirmed to be Rosie. Or for another family.
