Bembridge RNLI’s inshore lifeboat has launched to a yacht that has run aground and is listing heavily to one side on Bembridge Ledge this morning (Monday).

The volunteer crew members were called into action at 07:50 following reports to Solent Coastguard that the yacht ‘New Dawn’ had got into difficulty.

The 42ft vessel is stuck on the Ledge just 300m off the lifeboat station at Lane End.

All of those onboard the vessel are thought to be safe and well.

UPDATE @ 09:00 – The crew of New Dawn have been transferred ashore, where they are expected to spend the day before an attempt at recovering the yacht is made at around 17:00.

UPDATE @ 17:02 – The D-Class Inshore Lifeboat was launched at 15:50 when it was spotted that New Dawn was once again afloat.

The crew of the ILB quickly put the yacht under tow to the RNLI mooring just off the Offshore Boathouse and subsequently transferred her crew back onboard.

The yacht is now set to head to Lymington.
