A classic car has come to rest on its side, resulting in the main Blackwater to Rookley road being closed this morning (Sunday).
The white 1986 VW Polo has crashed on the ‘S’ bends near to May Field.
Police, an ambulance and an ambulance officer from the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service are in attendance having been alerted to the situation just before 11:40.
The road has been closed in both directions with motorists being diverting via Highwood Lane and Merstone Lane.
UPDATE @ 13:34 – 1 fire appliance from Newport Fire Station has been at the scene this lunchtime in the interests of safety. A strong smell of petrol is present at the crash site.
The road remains closed at this time.
UPDATE @ 14:42 – Blackwater Hollow has now re-opened to traffic in both directions.
