The volunteers of Bembridge RNLI lifeboat have launched into choppy seas off the East of the Isle of Wight this afternoon (Tuesday) in response to a yacht adrift.
Solent Coastguard requested the launch of Bembridge’s All Weather Lifeboat (ALB) at around 14:15 following reports that a yacht had become dismasted and was floating freely in the busy Solent shipping lanes having broken its mooring.
The Albert Albert Williams Tamar-class ALB arrived on scene with the casualty vessel by 14:35.
A tow has since been established and the damaged yacht has been towed to a mooring buoy off the lifeboat station at Lane End.
