The incident began at around 17:00 when passengers on board a Southern Vectis double decker bus were taken by surprise. Armed officers conducted a hard stop on the vehicle on Eleanor’s Grove, between Fishbourne and Binstead.
Police cars boxed the bus in and surrounded the vehicle before officers conducted a search onboard.
Moments later, the Armed Response Vehicles continued towards Ryde and headed for the bus station on the Esplanade. Here officers once again surrounded a bus, but nothing was found.
