Armed Police have this morning (Monday) arrested three people as part of a serious targeted operation in Freshwater.
Officers raided a property in Heathfield Road near to the High Street at around 08:30 before arresting two males and a female in relation to an ongoing investigation. All three are being held in custody this afternoon.
The address, understood to be a flat, is being searched by Police for evidence.
Local residents were awoken to a high Police presence in the area with at least two armed officers present at the scene, alongside the Dog Support Unit.
Due to other ongoing enquiries in regards to this operation, Hampshire Constabulary are not able to confirm more detail at this time, however Island Echo understands the incident relates to a serious crime involving several people on both sides of the Solent.
