The Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service are tackling a small fire at a residential address in Ryde this morning (Wednesday).
2 appliances and an officer have been mobilised to Corbett Road – at the junction with Upton Road – where a washing machine is understood to have caught fire.
The alarm was raised by a 999 call at just before 08:40.
The occupants of the family home have safely evacuated and are uninjured.
Crews wearing breathing apparatus have entered the property armed with a hose reel.
UPDATE @ 09:15 – The fire, located in a laundry room at the rear of the property, has been extinguished.
Firefighters are now preparing to leave the scene.
Thankfully, little damage has been sustained and it has been confirmed that no one has been injured.
