ALARM SOUNDING AND SMELL OF BURNING PROMPTS FIRE CALL OUT

Firefighters have been called to a property in Carisbrooke this lunchtime (Wednesday) following reports of a potential domestic fire.

2 appliances from Newport are currently on scene at Carisbrooke Road, where crews have gained entry to a property through a window.

A concerned member of the public raised the alarm shortly before 11:45 after hearing a fire alarm sounding and the smell of burning.

It has been confirmed that cooking fumes have sparked the alert.

Fire crews are preparing to leave the scene. The homeowner has been made aware of the situation and is returning to the property.
