The Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance has airlifted an elderly woman to a hospital on the mainland this afternoon (Christmas Eve).
The yellow and green helicopter started circling Ryde at 14:25 before touching down at Simeon Street Recreation Ground, where an ambulance was awaiting the arrival of the HEMS team.
Island Echo understands that the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service were called to an address in the town earlier this afternoon where they discovered the 85-year-old lady was having a heart attack.
Following a swift but rather muddy transfer from the ambulance, the helicopter was airborne and en-route to Queen Alexandra Hospital in Portsmouth by 15:05.
