UPDATE: AIR AMBULANCE IN ACTION FOLLOWING EMERGENCY AT LANDGUARD


The Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance has landed in Shanklin this morning (Sunday) following a call for assistance from the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service.

The yellow and green helicopter touched down in fields behind Landguard Holiday Park off the public bridleway SS18A shortly before 11:30.

The HEMS team have joined local paramedics at the popular holiday park in response to an individual being taken ill.

HIOWAA were also in Shanklin yesterday afternoon (Saturday) when a man required assistance at a residential address in the Westhill Drive area.

UPDATE @ 12:15 – The air ambulance doctors and paramedics have now left the scene and are returning to their base in Andover.

The crew were transferred back to the helicopter by an off-road vehicle belonging to the holiday park.

The patient has not been conveyed to a mainland hospital – instead they have been taken to St Mary’s Hospital by land.
