The Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance has been in action in East Cowes this lunchtime (Saturday).
Local residents witnessed the green and yellow helicopter land on a patch of green at the Esplanade at around 11:45.
The onboard HEMS team walked a short distance to a nearby address on Cambridge Road/Old Road where it is understood the specialist flying doctors assessed a patient as requiring hospital treatment.
With no local ambulance crew on scene, members of the public – including roadwokers laying cables for WightFibre – assisted in carrying the patient on a stretcher to the helicopter.
The air ambulance took off from the seafront location at 12:20 to transfer the patient to the Queen Alexandra Hospital in Cosham – a cardiac centre.
