The Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance has landed in the middle of Ryde this afternoon (Wednesday) to assist local paramedics with an ongoing medical emergency.
The yellow and green helicopter touched down at Simeon Rec at just gone 13:00 with on board doctors swiftly transferred by land ambulance to an address off Monkton Street.
2 crews from the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service are in attendance alongside the HEMS team, who are thought to have been called sometime around 12:45.
It is understood that the casualty has sustained a trauma injury.
The individual is expected to be airlifted to the major trauma centre at Southampton General Hospital.
UPDATE @ 14:50 – The casualty has been airlifted from Simeon Rec straight to the mainland hospital.
