An aerial ladder platform has been sent from Newport to assist in evacuating an injured man from a property in Bembridge tonight (Monday).
Kings Road has been closed in both directions whilst the Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service work with colleagues from the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service in moving the patient.
1 appliance from Bembridge Fire Station is on scene alongside the aerial ladder platform (ALP) from Newport, paramedics and an ambulance officer.
It is understood the incident began sometime before 21:40. It is around this time that the ALP was requested at the scene, with the specialist appliance now working to transfer the male from a balcony into the awaiting ambulance.
The road is expected to re-open shortly.
It is currently unclear how seriously injured the individual is.
UPDATE @ 23:00 – Kings Road has now re-opened in both directions following the successful conclusion of the incident.
The ambulance has rushed the man to St Mary’s Hospital under blue lights. It is understood he fell at home.
