4-wheel drive wasn’t enough to get a vehicle out of a rather sticky situation on Players Beach near Ryde yesterday evening (Sunday).
The vehicle was stuck fast several hundred metres from the shore in an area known as Players Beach at Binstead.
It is understood the 4×4 is used to launch boats to the West of Ryde Pier from the nearby boat club, but on this occasion things didn’t go according to plan.
Bembridge Coastguard Rescue Team were tasked to the scene after social media posts alerted Coastguard Officers to the situation, but upon on arrival the vehicle had been safely recovered. Thankfully no persons were injured during the recovery process.
It is believed that the vehicle had been stuck in the sand for 24 hours or so.
Buoys are now expected to be placed to mark a clear, safe route for the launching and recovery of vessels.
