Bembridge RNLI’s inshore lifeboat launched into torrential rain and choppy seas last night (Thursday) to provide assistance to 2 sailors off Seaview.
Reports had been received by Solent Coastguard that 2 crew members on a 20 ft day sailing boat from Chichester had picked up a mooring off Seaview after being caught out by the increasing wind and sea conditions.
Although they had originally planned to spend the night on board, conditions were such that one of them started feeling very sick.
Rather than risk using their small tender to get ashore, they asked the Coastguard for assistance.
The D-Class ‘Norman Harvey’ did not take long to reach the moored boat and get the crew safely ashore on the Sea View Yacht Club slipway.
The lifeboat returned to Lane End and was recovered by 22:45.

Those legs have never been round the cape I wager .
I am glad that they are safe now.
