Emergency services are responding to a 2-car crash on the main road in and out of East Cowes this afternoon (Monday), which is causing traffic tailbacks.
The incident has occurred on a sweeping bend on Whippingham Road and seen a Ford Focus and a Land Rover Freelander collide.
Police, fire and ambulance crews are all in attendance having been alerted to the incident at around 14:45.
The Isle of Wight Ambulance Service has 2 ambulances, a critical care paramedic, a rapid response paramedic and an Operational Commander on scene, as paramedics tend to those involved.
It is currently unclear how the incident has occurred
Traffic is heavy in both directions but the road remains open at this time under give and take.
UPDATE @ 16:35 – The road has now fully re-opened, ahead of rush hour.

Maybe you should telling the police what you saw
More wanker driving on the island to fast on wet roads..at least off the road now with high for 5 year insurance costs..shame about the guys car as they also have to declare it.
So, is the driver of the Land Rover Freelander at fault?
ANOTHER “UNSAFE” Island Road where speeding is
Rife.
Until the clueless authorities put in
safety measures speeding and accidents
will keep happening.
20mph is plenty, take a leaf out of
Khan’s book. Install speed cameras.
It is easy to make roads safe if you want
too!, maybe the persons responsible for
safety on Island Roads don’t want safe roads.
