Hope all involved are OK
I go down these traffic lights most night after work the amount of people that go through i red light is a joke!
Like you, I, too, pass through Yarbridge lights frequently for work. My dashcam’s caught lots of people plowing through an Amber light to fast that the driver obviously knew they weren’t going to stop, or straight through a red light. The Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary need to start running Operation Snap again like the other Police Forces in the country!
True, people do jump these lights a lot but I think this accident was on the bridge over the railway where the road narrows slightly and there’s a kink in the road.
Going back to the lights, I think they need to be phased sightly differently – maybe all held for a second or two on red, which might help prevent a serious accident.
The amount of people who cut over the white line as they come over the bridge is ridiculous
Has anyone checked the traffic lights aren’t faulty?
I reported it to island roads that the gap between going red to green needs to be checked as cars are having near misses but they said they are timed correctly and they said we can’t put longer time on it’s the drivers that are jumping them . There will be a fatality there before long I always count to 20 before I move on the green nearly been hit several times
Very ‘considerate’ of you NOT!
Why not just hold everyone else up?
What will happen? You will cause angst to other drivers by holding them up and probably be the root cause of an accident when someone is impatient. PLUS, waiting that long quite often means the lights will cycle back to red!
Why are so many critics on here saying its where the lights are, try reading the story first it might give you a clue to where it happened.
