2 people have been arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent following an incident in Ventnor this afternoon (Sunday).
Police were called at 13:44 to a report that a man had been assaulted at a property on Alpine Road in Ventnor, prompting at least 5 units from across the Island to respond to the scene.
It is at the address that officers found a 39-year-old man with a head injury. He has been taken to hospital by ambulance.
Hampshire Constabulary have confirmed to Island Echo that a 23-year-old man and a 22-year-old woman have been arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm with intent.
The duo remain in police custody at Newport Police Station at this time.
An investigation is in its early stages but this is being treated as an isolated incident at this time.
