3 wins in 8 days see Ventnor taking top spot in the Isle of Wight’s strongest league by seeing off the Romans at Watcombe Bottom. Ventnor looked sharp from the start of the game and got an early goal when captain Emerson Tattersall tapped the ball home after a Charlie Urry strike hit the bar (1-0). The South Wight side continued to press and pushed hard to extend their lead, creating plenty of chances. A wonder strike from Jack Barsdell from the edge of the box gave Ventnor a 2-goal cushion. Barsdell smashed the ball with the outside of his foot into the the top corner of the goal (2-0). Ventnor dominated the 1st half, with man-of-the-match Harry Mulholland running the midfield and reached the half time interval 2 goals to the good. Half time: Ventnor 2-0 Brading Town The home side began the 2nd half brightly with a 3rd goal from striker Charlie Urry (3-0). The Romans then had a good 20 minutes spell, forcing Ventnor to defend well, with stand in keeper Rio Barratt making some important saves. However, Brading managed to hit the back of the net with a powerful strike (3-1). Ventnor then regained their momentum, with in form winger Liam Harper coolly slotting home after a great move to finish off the game (4-1).
